Comprehensive guides to help you buy and sell with confidence on CampusHub. Browse topics below or use the section navigation to find what you need.
CampusHub connects you with verified students on your campus to buy and sell items safely. As a buyer, you can browse thousands of listings across categories like Electronics, Books, Fashion, Furniture, and more. Every listing comes from a fellow student, and our verification system helps ensure you are transacting with real campus community members. To get started, simply visit the Marketplace, browse or search for what you need, and reach out to sellers directly through the contact options provided on each listing.
Our search and filtering system is designed to help you find exactly what you need quickly. Use the search bar at the top of the Marketplace page to search by item name, brand, or keyword. For more targeted results, combine search with our advanced filters: narrow by category (Electronics, Books, Fashion, etc.), select your campus to see listings near you, set a minimum and maximum price range, and sort results by newest first, oldest first, or price (low to high / high to low). The search uses full-text indexing, so your results are both relevant and fast.
Making informed purchase decisions is key to a great marketplace experience. When you find a listing you are interested in, examine the photos carefully — clear, well-lit images from multiple angles indicate a serious seller. Read the full listing description to understand the item's condition, age, specifications, and any defects or wear. Check the seller's profile for verification badges: student verification (campus email or document verified), business verification, and trusted seller badges provide additional confidence. Review the seller's join date and other active listings. As a rule of thumb: if a deal seems too good to be true, trust your instincts and proceed with caution.
When you are ready to inquire about a listing, each product page provides the seller's preferred contact methods. You can reach out via WhatsApp or phone call using the details provided. When contacting a seller, introduce yourself as a fellow student from the same campus, mention the specific item you are interested in, ask any questions about condition, age, or availability, and propose a convenient time and place to meet. Clear communication leads to smoother transactions. Always keep initial conversations focused on the item and logistics.
Once you and the seller agree on a price and meeting arrangement, follow these best practices for a smooth transaction. Meet in a public, well-lit location on campus during daytime hours — the library, student center, or campus cafeteria are ideal. Inspect the item thoroughly before handing over payment. Test electronics to ensure they work as described. Verify that books are the correct edition and in the stated condition. Use cash or mobile money for payment. Never send money in advance or pay before seeing the item. After the transaction, the seller will mark the item as sold, removing it from the marketplace.
Your listing is your storefront — make it count. Start by clicking "Sell an Item" from the Marketplace or your dashboard. Choose a clear, descriptive title that includes the item name, brand, key specifications, and condition. For example: "HP Pavilion 15.6' Laptop — Intel i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD — Excellent Condition". Select the most accurate category to ensure your item appears in relevant searches. Add your campus location so local students can find your listing easily. A well-crafted listing with accurate details sells faster and attracts serious buyers.
Great photos are the single most important factor in selling your items quickly. Upload 3-5 high-resolution photos taken in good natural lighting against a clean, uncluttered background. Capture the item from multiple angles: front, back, sides, and any unique features. Include close-up shots of any defects, wear, or damage — transparency builds trust with buyers. The first photo you upload becomes the primary image displayed in search results and cards, so make it your best shot. Supported formats include JPG, PNG, and WebP, with a maximum file size of 5MB per image.
Setting the right price is crucial for a quick sale. Research similar listings on CampusHub to understand the current market range for your item type, brand, and condition. Consider these factors when pricing: original purchase price and age of the item, current condition (excellent, good, fair), market demand and seasonality (textbooks sell faster at semester start), and any included accessories or extras. You can edit your listing price at any time if you are not getting interest. Many successful sellers price slightly above their minimum acceptable price to allow for friendly negotiation.
Stay on top of your listings to provide a great buyer experience. From your My Listings dashboard, you can view all your active, pending, and sold items. Respond to buyer inquiries promptly — quick responses build trust and increase your chances of making a sale. When an item sells, mark it as "Sold" from the listing options to remove it from public view. You can reactivate a sold listing later if needed (up to 3 reactivations per listing). Keep your inventory accurate by removing or editing listings for items that are no longer available.
Your reputation on CampusHub directly impacts your success as a seller. Build a strong seller profile by keeping accurate listings with clear photos and honest descriptions, responding to buyer messages promptly and professionally, completing transactions smoothly and safely, and encouraging buyers to leave positive feedback. Sellers with verified accounts (campus email or document verification) earn the trust of more buyers. Top-performing sellers may earn a "Trusted Seller" badge, which increases visibility and buyer confidence in your listings.
At CampusHub, your safety is our highest priority. We have built our platform around the principle that students should be able to trade with confidence. Every transaction on our marketplace benefits from our verification systems, moderation processes, and community reporting tools. However, safe trading is a shared responsibility. By following the guidelines in this section, you can protect yourself and help maintain a trusted marketplace for the entire campus community.
While CampusHub actively monitors for fraudulent activity, being aware of common scam tactics is your best defense. Watch for these red flags: users who refuse to meet in person or insist on shipping only, requests for upfront payment, deposits, or "holding fees", deals that seem dramatically below market value, sellers using stock photos instead of actual item photos, vague or copied descriptions, pressure tactics urging you to "act now or lose the deal", and requests to communicate outside the platform for transactions. If you encounter any of these warning signs, trust your judgment and disengage. Report suspicious listings or users immediately using the Report button.
Always prioritize your personal safety when meeting to complete a transaction. Meet in public, well-trafficked locations on campus during daylight hours: the student center, library lobby, campus cafeteria, or administrative building lobbies are excellent choices. Inform a friend or roommate about where you are going and who you are meeting. Bring your phone and keep it accessible. Consider bringing a friend along, especially for high-value transactions. Inspect the item thoroughly before exchanging payment. If at any point the situation feels uncomfortable or unsafe, trust your instincts and leave immediately. Your personal safety is always more important than any transaction.
CampusHub currently facilitates connections between buyers and sellers but does not process payments directly. Follow these guidelines to protect your financial safety. Use cash for in-person transactions whenever possible. Mobile money transfers are acceptable but only complete the transfer after you have inspected and accepted the item. Never share your banking details, PIN numbers, or online banking credentials with anyone on the platform. Never send money in advance for an item you have not seen in person. Be wary of overpayment scams where a buyer sends more than the asking price and requests a refund of the difference. If a payment arrangement seems unusual or complicated, it is likely a scam.
If you encounter anything on CampusHub that seems unsafe, inappropriate, or violates our community guidelines, report it immediately. Every listing page has a "Report" button that allows you to submit a report to our moderation team. You can report listings that are fake, misrepresented, prohibited, or suspicious, users who send abusive messages or harass you, or any activity that violates campus or platform policies. All reports are handled confidentially by our moderation team, typically within 24 hours. If you believe you are in immediate danger, contact campus security or local authorities first, then notify CampusHub.
CampusHub's reporting system is designed to maintain a safe, trustworthy marketplace for all students. When you submit a report, it is sent to our moderation team for review. Each report includes the listing or user in question, the reason for your report, and any additional details you provide. Our team investigates each case thoroughly, taking appropriate action which may include issuing warnings, suspending listings, restricting user accounts, or in serious cases, permanently banning users from the platform. All reports are treated confidentially, and your identity as the reporter is protected.
To report a listing you believe violates our policies, navigate to the listing page and click the "Report" button located in the actions section. Select the reason that best describes the issue from the provided options. Provide as much detail as possible in the description field to help our reviewers understand the situation. Include specific information about why the listing appears fraudulent, misrepresented, or prohibited. Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation message. Our team typically reviews reports within 24 hours and may follow up if additional information is needed.
If another user is behaving inappropriately — sending abusive messages, harassing you, or engaging in suspicious activity — you can report them through their listing or profile. Use the report function on any of their active listings and mention the user's name and the nature of the issue in your report. Include screenshots of any messages or communications that demonstrate the problematic behavior. Our team will investigate the user's account history and activity logs and take appropriate disciplinary action, which may include temporary suspension, permanent banning, or restriction of platform privileges.
After you submit a report, here is what you can expect. Our moderation team receives the report and reviews all provided information. The team investigates the listing or user in question, examining account history, communication patterns, and any previous reports. A decision is made on the appropriate action based on our community guidelines and platform policies. You will receive a notification confirming that your report has been reviewed and resolved. While we may not share specific details of the action taken due to privacy policies, know that every report is taken seriously and contributes to maintaining a safe marketplace for all students.
The reporting system works best when used responsibly. Please only submit reports for genuine concerns about listings, users, or activities that violate our community guidelines or campus policies. False or malicious reporting undermines the system and may result in action against the reporting user. If you have a simple question or need assistance with a non-urgent issue, consider reaching out through our support channels instead of filing a report. Responsible reporting helps us focus our moderation resources on maintaining a safe and trustworthy marketplace for everyone.
CampusHub is a trusted student marketplace platform designed exclusively for campus communities. We enable students to buy and sell items such as electronics, textbooks, furniture, fashion, and more — all within a safe, verified environment. Our mission is to make student-to-student trade accessible, secure, and convenient for everyone.
Yes, CampusHub is completely free for all students. There are no listing fees, no transaction fees, no commission charges, and no hidden costs. We believe that financial barriers should never prevent students from accessing affordable items or earning money from items they no longer need. Our platform is supported by our commitment to building a trusted campus community.
Click the "Sign Up" button in the top navigation bar. Enter your full name, your institutional email address, and create a secure password. You will receive a verification email — click the link to verify your account. After verification, complete your profile by adding your phone number and selecting your campus from the list. Once your profile is set up, you can immediately start browsing listings and contacting sellers.
Student verification adds a trusted badge to your profile, letting others know you are a real student. You can verify through two methods: email verification using your campus email address (we send a code to your @campus.edu email), or document verification by uploading a valid student ID or admission letter. Verification is optional but highly recommended — verified users earn greater trust from buyers and sellers, and some listings may prioritize verified users.
Most listings are reviewed and approved within 24 hours. You will receive a notification once your listing status is updated. To ensure fast approval, make sure your listing includes clear original photos, an accurate and detailed description, a fair and reasonable price, and the correct category assignment. Listings that violate our community guidelines may be rejected with instructions for revision.
Yes, you have full control over your listings. From the My Listings page, you can edit the title, description, price, photos, and category of any active listing. Changes to approved listings may trigger a moderation re-review. You can also delete (soft-delete) a listing at any time, which removes it from public view. Deleted listings can be restored within 30 days. For a permanent removal, use the force-delete option.
When your item sells, go to My Listings, find the item, and click "Mark as Sold". This immediately removes the listing from public search results and browse pages, preventing further inquiries. The listing status changes to "Sold" in your dashboard. You can reactivate a sold listing later if the sale falls through, up to a maximum of 3 reactivations per listing.
If a buyer does not arrive at the agreed meeting time, wait a reasonable period (10-15 minutes) and send a follow-up message. If there is no response, the buyer may have lost interest. You can keep the listing active and wait for other interested buyers. For repeated no-shows by the same user, you can report the user through our reporting system. We recommend confirming meetings shortly before the scheduled time to reduce no-shows.
If you encounter a dispute with another user, first try to resolve it directly through clear communication. Most issues stem from misunderstandings about item condition or meeting arrangements. If you cannot reach a resolution, contact our support team through the Help Center with all relevant details, including messages exchanged, photos of the item, and any other evidence. Our team will review the situation and work toward a fair resolution for both parties.
Yes, CampusHub supports both individual students and registered businesses. If you run a business that serves students, you can apply for business verification through your account settings. Business verification requires submitting your business registration documents. Verified businesses receive a "Business" badge on their profile and listings, helping students identify professional sellers. Business accounts have higher listing limits and additional features.
CampusHub prohibits listings that violate our community guidelines or applicable laws. Prohibited items include illegal substances and drug paraphernalia, weapons, firearms, and ammunition, counterfeit goods and replicas, stolen property, alcohol and tobacco products, hazardous materials, animals and pets, gift cards and vouchers (may be restricted), and services that violate campus policies. If you are unsure whether an item is allowed, contact our support team before creating your listing.
Your Trust Score is a measure of your reliability and reputation on CampusHub, calculated based on multiple factors including profile completeness (having a verified email, phone number, campus, and avatar), account age and activity history, successful transaction completions, and adherence to community guidelines. A higher Trust Score increases buyer and seller confidence in your listings and interactions. You can view your current Trust Score on your dashboard alongside personalized recommendations for improvement.
When you initiate account deletion, your profile and personal information are scheduled for permanent removal after a 30-day grace period. During this period, you can cancel the deletion and restore your account. After the grace period expires, your listings, profile data, and account information are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. Activity logs and transaction records may be retained in anonymized form for analytical and legal purposes. To delete your account, go to Profile Settings and scroll to the bottom of the page.
